Mini McKean Studio LOVE

Posted on by

I am in love with these mini model sets by Australian husband and wife team McKean Studio.  All the products are about travel and cities, aswell as these mini handmade, hand painted sets, they produce bangles, scarves, prints and domino sets.

I’m totally after a Palm Springs set (and the dominoes) especially as we were there last month.  A good excuse for some memorabilia I think.

My Mila

I’m really liking this Canadian brand I’ve recently come across.  Largely monochrome based, they have great handmade organic, swaddles, leggings, hats and scarves.  All handmade, using organic cotton, we especially love the leopard and pineapple prints.

Here are a few of our favourites.

Loom love

Posted on by
We have a new brand for Lil’ Beans store this week, Loom.  They are gorgeous hats, crocheted by the lovely Kyle.  The Loom collection is inspired by the people and places of Kenneth Grahame’s ‘Wind In The Willows’.  The ‘ratty hat’ comes in two colour ways, and we will be adding a scarf to the collection soon.

Here are 3 quickies with Kyle:
Where do you live and with whom?
I live in Clapton, East London. I think Cornwall – where I was born, and spent my formative years – is where I will always call home, but Hackney comes a close second. I live with my partner Ben, my son Syd, my daughter Winona, our three cats (Merlin, Vincent and Runter) and a plague of moths, seemingly hell-bent on ruining my life.
Who taught you to crochet?
I’d like to say I was taught to crochet by my grandmother (or even my mother, if it comes to it!) but the reality is that youtube was – and is – my guide. I got the basic stitches from a ladybird book I found at a car boot sale though, so I can up my twee quotient slightly by way of that.
What’s your favourite time of day with your children and place to go (so far) with them?
My favourite time of day with my children is bedtime. If that sounds harsh, it is slightly (who doesn’t love bedtime?) but what I really mean is curling up with the kids and enjoying time with them, one-on-one. For Syd that means reading books (Moon Man by Tomi Ungerer is the current favourite) and for Win it’s a few precious moments without the somewhat hands-on advances of her older brother.
As far as favourite places, any chance to enjoy the countryside with the children has been wonderful. So yes, that means Cornwall again. We visited the wishing well in Madron in the summer and tied ribbons to the tree… Making memories, that’s what we’re all about.
