And just like that, he is 18

Posted on by

I’ve been quite emotional about this, I can’t lie.  It is SO true that time flies, whether it’s good or bad you can’t slow it down and yes,  hindsight is a wonderful thing.  My first born, first love, turns 18years old. So, as a note to me and maybe him, (he may read it one day), I was going to write 18 things about O…..

But decided that maybe wasn’t enough.  I could also go on about autism, diagnosis, milestones, my mistakes, how big and wide your feet are, how handsome you are, your isms, obsessions, our ups and downs, staying true to yourself, your kind soul, how hard mothering can be, what I have learned.  But the crux of story that is you so far is…

…..I’m proud of you
and you’re pretty awesome.

Happy birthday O, I love you x

Yo Gabba Gabba

I might be late to the party, but I just recently discovered Nick Jr.’s Yo Gabba Gabba from the U.S. and fell in love.  The more I read up on it I’ve discovered it’s a bit like Marmite, parents love it or hate it!  I often put on an old Muppet Show to show the Lil’ Bean something I loved as a child, and was so pleased to find a current show that is so creative and enjoyable to watch.

Developed by two fathers who were disappointed in the state of children’s television they created a show that features some amazing segments that both we and the Lil Bean enjoy.  We love to dance to the musical acts where anyone from Chromeo to Band of Horses may be singing a song about Nature, the lessons taught like “Don’t Bite Your Friends” and “Party in My Tummy” where one of the show’s Monster’s encourages kids to eat their veggies, and Mark’s (Mothersbaugh) Magic Pictures.  We also adore the goofy DJ Lance Rock who could run miles around Mr. Tumble.

Here’s a favourite of Mos Def as Super Mr. Super Hero.
